Monday Morning Commute -- How To Pass The Time While Commuting To Work

I hate working. Even worse, I hate commuting to work on Monday morning. Monday morning is the brand-new start to the work week. That means five more full days until the weekend.

With that said, here's my guide to passing the time while commuting to work:

  • Think about being able to see your colleagues again. Your colleagues and your boss are your daytime friends and, at the end of your morning commute, you will get to see them all again, just like you saw them every day last week, last month, and last year.
  • Observe the drivers in the other vehicles. See how sad they look and realize to yourself how their jobs must be much worse than your job. This should make you realize how lucky you are to work where you do.
  • Remember that your country mandates two weeks of vacation time each and every year. So you only need to commute to work during fifty, or 96%, of the weeks in the year. Try not to think about the European countries that mandate a minimum of six weeks of vacation time. Thats not a good topic to think about when commuting to work.
  • Each and every Monday morning, do a countdown of how many more commutes you have until you retire and no longer need to commute. For example, if you are thirty years old and you commute to work five days a week, fifty times per year, then you only have to commute 8,750 more times before you retire and commute to work no more. The countdown helps.
